The world is changing and evolving, cultures too. Often, we hope that these changes will lead to a more just, easier to live with, more joyful society, especially for women and girls who still suffer many injustices. 17 photographers have documented their struggles, through different reports. These photographs have been awarded by World Press Photo, from 2000 to 2021, and are now displayed on the outside gates of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris.
The Cité internationale has chosen to highlight these inspiring women who push us to improve the world, to mark March 8, International Women's Rights Day.
From March 8 to March 28, 2023, you can admire many photographs, which reveal the scourges that still plague the lives of women around the world, and those who seek to get rid of them. Sexism, equal opportunities, struggles for reproductive rights, sexist and sexual violence, self-expression... These big issues are symbolized in these powerful, thought-provoking images.
Entitled Resilience - stories of women who inspire change, this exhibition brings together 17 photographers from 13 different nationalities. This overview also allows us to see the evolution of photojournalism and the place of women in society since the beginning of the 21st century.
A free and striking exhibition, which pays tribute to those who continue to fight every day to exist freely.
