Who has ever seen an Olympic medal? Who knows what meaning it carries for the winner and what symbols it holds for society? Since 1896, when the first Olympic medal was produced by the Monnaie de Paris, these distinctions have been awarded to the world's elite athletes for over a century. Sport, however, is conspicuously absent from the Olympic medal designs... The exhibition is complemented by a selection of sports medal tools (other than Olympic ones) where artists have been able to express their vision of gesture and effort much more freely.
Saturday June 15 and Sunday June 16 from 11 a.m.

    • Flash visit to the exhibition - Here comes the Olympic medal!
Following in the footsteps of a mediator, discover the history and manufacturing processes of the Olympic medal, as well as what it represents and symbolizes through the ages.

Prior booking essential, subject to availability.

  • Mediation in the Musée de la Monnaie de Paris

    Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No reservation required, subject to availability.

  • Engraving demonstration
Come and meet a craftsman at work, who will reveal the secrets of his craft with a demonstration of direct-cut engraving, and answer all your questions!
