Reflections of Nature: free photo exhibition at the House of Japanese Culture

The Maison de la culture du Japon in Paris continues to take us on a journey thanks to its rich and varied program. In addition to workshops, shows and screenings, the Japanese cultural center organizes a series ofexhibitions throughout the year, many of which are free of charge. These can be seen on the second floor of the building, a stone's throw from the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and the Eiffel Tower, and some are also on show on the first floor, in the Maison de la culture du Japon reception hall.

Such is the case with the center's next exhibition. Entitled " Reflections of Nature " , this installation is an invitation to travel and discover nature's rich beauty, thanks to the sublime photographs of Junji Takasago.

Junji Takasago began his career in underwater photography. He met the famous freediver Jacques Mayol, who inspired Luc Besson's film"The Big Blue". Junji Takasago immortalized moments of Jacques Mayol in contact with animals.

His experience continued with several trips to Hawaii and the United States in search of night-time rainbows. Junji Takasago 's love of nature and the animals that inhabit our planet has made him a recognized and influential photographer in the field.

The photographer, who has visited over a hundred countries, published some thirty photo collections and essays, and exhibited his work on numerous occasions, is also a committed artist and founding member of the Oceanic Wildlife Society (OWS). Proof of his renown, in 2022 Junji Takasago was awarded the prestigious " Wildlife Photographer of the Year " prize in the " Art of Nature " category.

This spring, photographer Junji Takasago will be exhibiting his fascinating images in the lobby of the House of Japanese Culture for around four weeks, from May 7 to June 1, 2024. Note that the photographer will be present at the Maison de la culture du Japon for an exclusive conference (free upon reservation) scheduled for May 14. On this occasion, he will present some of his most famous shots and share several anecdotes.
