Galerie Wawi invites artist Kazybris, from July 3 to August 1, 2025: the contemporary painter presents Les décadences de l'amour, an exhibition that offers us another vision of LGBTQ+ celebrations and love.
In this series of original paintings, Kazybris creates various portraits and scenes that highlight the individual, the being in the middle of the crowd, the intimate and vulnerable person who hides behind masks, roles and clichés. The artist created these paintings at the very heart of the queer parties he represents.
In the midst of dancing and mingling bodies, Kazybris gives shape to individuality and singularity. The carefully crafted compositions, colors and play of light encourage us to take a close look at the person at the center of the work: beyond the sparkle of the party, we discover deeper emotions, pleasure, melancholy, joy or sadness. The painter tells of the desire for connection, quick pleasure or sincere love.
Kazybris deliberately blurs boundaries and identities: male, female or non-binary, gay, lesbian, queer... These characters are defined only in the eyes of the spectators, so that everyone can find themselves in these stories. The painter speaks to the heart, to the emotions, more than to the carnal envelopes that evolve and don't always represent us.
This free exhibition, to be seen this summer at Galerie Wawi, is therefore intended to be human, both intimate and universal, as diverse as the queer community itself.
