Discover the art of silk with Maison Bucol, at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. A free event on April 4, 2024, during the Journées européennes des Métiers d'Art.

We often marvel at the works exhibited in museums: what skill it takes to be able to paint, sew, sculpt and create like this! These artists become extraordinary beings, endowed with magical fingers. And yet, these are not wizards who exhibit in museums, and their knowledge is no secret...

It's time to put these myths to rest, reveal what goes on behind the scenes and - perhaps - discover a new passion. Are you fascinated by the Yves Saint Laurent museum and its haute couture outfits? Then come and meet the artisans who help create these masterpieces.

The Yves Saint Laurent museum is hosting a free event on the occasion of the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art. This annual event highlights the exceptional skills and craftsmen who bring our heritage to life. Watchmakers, jewelers, milliners, tailors, coachbuilders, restorers, bootmakers... Many of them work in the shadows of museums and art workshops. But this April 4, 2024, starting at 6pm, it's a silk house that we're discovering, alongside the museum's temporary exhibition.

The JEMA 2024 program at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum:

  • For the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art 2024 , the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris will be showcasing the prodigious skills of the silk makers of Lyon, the makers of transparent fabrics who accompanied the expression of Yves Saint Laurent's creative genius throughout his career.
For over a century, Maison Bucol has accompanied the most prestigious haute couture houses and contemporary designers. Over the years, Bucol has been associated with Yves Saint Laurent's most audacious creations, and was one of his main suppliers of transparent fabrics.

For JEMA 2024, Maison Bucol is unveiling part of its archives in one of the museum's rooms, illustrating its collaboration with the fashion house. You can discover the specificities of transparent fabrics. Vintage samples of Cigaline® and muslin, which so fascinated the couturier, will be the subject of an ephemeral, tactile exhibition, hosted by the museum's curatorial team.
    April 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., by reservation.
