JEMA 2025 in Paris: demonstrations and a behind-the-scenes night at La Monnaie de Paris

" Art professions are manual crafts. They mobilize traditional skills of high technicality, often exceptional ": this definition from the French Ministry of Culture can only make art and culture lovers dream.

To highlight these skills and the creations of France's great masters, the Institut national des métiers d'art has been organizing the JEMA ( Journées européennes des métiers d'art) since 2002. In the spring, numerous establishments open their doors to the curious to let us discover their passion, their work and their creations.

In Paris, many sites are taking part in this free event, open to the general public: museums, institutes, châteaux, workshops, theaters... It's a chance to go behind the scenes and meet the people who bring French culture and know-how to life!

From April 1 to 6, 2025, La Monnaie de Paris invites you to join us for the 19th edition of JEMA. The historic institution invites us to discover its collections and intangible heritage, through a variety of tours and events open to young and old alike. Don't hesitate: it's free!

The JEMA 2025 program at La Monnaie de Paris includes:

• Demonstration of expertise
  In the heart of the Museum, in the large hall of the Manufacture, a demonstration of Monnaie de Paris' expertise allows you to discover the different stages in the manufacture of an objet d'art. Watch a craftsman at work and ask him your questions!
  Saturday April 5, continuously from 3pm to 5pm (every 15 minutes)
  Sunday April 6, continuously from 3pm to 5pm (every 15 minutes)

• Guided tour - Discovering the Grand Monnayage...
  Make way for the Grand Monnayage! A mysterious and sacred place, the Grand Monnayage sees the transformation of simple metal blanks into medals, thanks to the presses that are revealed and told in the voice of a mediator.
  Saturday April 5, non-stop from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (departures every 30 minutes)

• Nocturne - Behind the scenes at La Monnaie
  Enjoy an unusual nocturne tour of the unexplored backstage world of La Monnaie de Paris. From the manufacturing secrets of a money factory to the hidden corners of a neo-classical palace, there's something for everyone!

• The Musée de la Monnaie de Paris: a temple to savoir-faire
  Immersive and multisensory, you can come and see, touch, smell and listen to metal to understand how a simple disc of metal becomes the coin you find in the bottom of your pocket or the medal you'll soon be wearing around your neck...
