It’s the unconventional rendezvous that unlocks the best-kept secrets of our heritage. Archaeology Days take place every year in June in Paris and the Île-de-France region. At this cultural event, people of all ages get a glimpse into the world of archaeologists through hands-on workshops and activities that reveal the methods and mysteries of the discipline. It’s a chance to feel like explorers and embark on an adventure to uncover the history of the region.
And right on the outskirts of Paris, in the city of La Courneuve, a crypt rarely open to the public is poised to reveal its secrets. Beneath a millennial monument, the Saint-Lucien church, this site draws us into the Merovingian era. It houses historic sarcophagi that bear witness to the long history of this religious building, which has evolved through the centuries. For the Archaeology Days, this Seine-Saint-Denis monument just a metro ride away invites us to enjoy a special programme of exceptional guided visits.
