When you think of Noisy-le-Grand, you'll certainly think of the Espaces Abraxas, a post-modernist architectural complex designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. It was here that certain scenes fromHunger Games, The Uprising (Part 2) with Jennifer Lawrence, Terry Gilliam's Brazil, Pierre Jeunet's Big Bun... were shot. Or one of the music videos of Rosé, the famous K-POP singer. So, while the architectural complex is much talked-about, it is first and foremost a housing complex, inaugurated in 1983.
Landlord CDC Habitat recently launched a major renovation project at the Espaces Abraxas (according to BFM TV), more than 40 years after it opened to the public. At a cost of 16 million euros, the project aims to refresh the façades of the Palacio d'Abraxas, bring the plumbing and ventilation systems up to standard, and refurbish all the elevators... Completion is scheduled for 2027.
In the meantime, Explore Paris offers guided tours of Noisy-le-Grand's architectural ensembles - vastly preferable to impromptu visits that can upset the locals since, let's not forget, this is first and foremost a place to live - to discover the history of the place.
