The Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art (European Crafts Days) is an annual event that showcases craftspeople and their skills at events open to the public. Architecture, fashion, gardens, woodworking, stonework, jewelry, glass and crystal, restoration, graphic design: over 280 trades are honored for their importance in preserving France's tangible and intangible heritage.
The Château de Fontainebleau, one of the jewels of the Seine-et-Marne region , is also home to craftsmen who work to preserve and maintain it. From the gardens to the roof, in every room of the château, down to the smallest gilding, highly skilled professionals are responsible for preserving the château, and its history through it.
The royal estate will once again take part in the 2026 edition of the Journées des Métiers d'Art, paying tribute to artisans and offering the public a chance to meet those who care for this historic castle. On Saturday, April 11, 2026, a free activity will be organized for the curious, available by reservation.
