In the heart of the magnificent parc de Bagatelle in Paris 16th arrondissement stands a castle. A castle belonging to the small History of France and Paris.
In 1777, the Count of Artois, future Charles X, made an outrageous wager with his sister-in-law Marie-Antoinette: building a pavilion for the few weeks the court stays in the Château de Fontainebleau. He does not even have 100 days. In sixty-four days, helped by a young genius architect, Bélanger, he manages to build the Château de Bagatelle. Come and admire the Neo-Palladian architecture, designed by one of the best master artisans in the 18th century and discover the succession of owners, all very famous – Napoleon, collector Lord Herford and philanthropist Richard Wallace.
Now under renovations, the castle is only very rarely open to the public. This is why you need to be there: on December 11 and 12, 2021, the Château de Bagatelle celebrates Christmas with you all and provides you with a never-before-seen tour in the heart of the renovation worksite.
On your own, with friends, your family, come and discover the story of this castle and owners. Admire the rooms, entirely redecorated for the Holidays. Follow the progress of the renovations thanks to explanations from the renovation team present all along tours.
These tours last about one hour. The money collected through the ticketing service enables to finance the renovation: you too can become a sponsor and take part in the preservation of the Parisian heritage!
This weekend, let us meet at the Château de Bagatelle to enjoy Christmas magic without leaving Paris.
