Jaipur Café, the Indian restaurant for lovers of Indian and Pakistani cuisine!

Located in a quiet street in the 10th arrondissement, a stone's throw from Boulevard Poissonnière, Jaipur Café has been delighting lovers of Indian and Pakistani cuisine for over 10 years now. We go there to taste the excellent, freshly-made naans that arrive still puffed up at the table, dishes cooked in the tandoor (a traditional charcoal oven) and to immerse ourselves in the Bollywood atmosphere.

As soon as you enter, you'll discover a cosy, refined and colorful setting. Red and mauve blend with gold and chandeliers. 2 rooms open up to us, a large one in front and a smaller one on the right, revealing a screen showing Bollywood films, just to get even more immersed.

Once the menu is in hand, the choice is wide. When it comes to breads, not 1 but 3 types of Indian bread are on offer: nans, of course, but also chappati (unleavened wholemeal bread) and paratha (unleavened buttered wholemeal bread). Nans are available plain or with cheese, meat or garlic filling, traditionally accompanied by 3 typical sauces.

For starters, as we couldn't make up our minds, we opted for the bouquet of starters comprising lamb sausage, samoussa, spice-marinated onion fritters, eggplant fritters, potato fritters and a small salad of crudités. Both crisp and melt-in-the-mouth, accompanied by little sauces and cheese nans, we're over the moon.

For the main course, we opt for the tandoori prawns and Kashmiri beef, accompanied by basmati rice. We love the generous prawns, cooked just right.

We finish on a high note with the homemade desserts. Semolina cakes and dried fruit ice-cream, a lovely marriage of hot and cold that goes superbly well together.

In short, if you're looking for a good Indian restaurant in the 10th arrondissement, this is a good address to try.
It's an address we've been passing on by word of mouth for years, and it's well worth the detour.
