Are roller skate nights your thing? If so, this concept should hit the spot. Once a month, the 6Skate Party rolls into Paris for rolling-dance evenings with a DJ set promising a great vibe. It’s a chance for the most dedicated skaters to show off their slickest moves, and for beginners to dive in and enjoy the floor. For those newcomers, there’s an optional initiation workshop held before the party, which you can join or skip, to help you ease in before you get your groove on.
The prereq for these initiation workshops is simply being able to stand up. Across this session you’ll learn a short choreography that’ll give you a handle on several steps you can pull out on the floor later. Note that this is genuinely a beginner-friendly course—if you’re more advanced, you’ll likely want to pass. The venue is compact, but it’s easy to glide, so all levels feel welcome. It’s a small-scale night with a distinctly old-school, good-natured vibe.
It must be said that the roller-dance nights are often a big hit in the capital. These events fuse nostalgia with standout performances on the dance floor. While roller-dance is commonly tied to the 80s disco vibe, that’s not the case here: this scene celebrates urban culture, with the DJ spinning Hip Hop, Funk, R&B, and Afrobeat, mixing 90s–2000s classics with more current tracks. If you’re after a Saturday Night Fever mood, we’d point you toward the roller-night at Kimpton Saint Honoré. And if you imagine cruising the streets of Paris on wheels with a soundtrack, the Paris Roller stroll, which is free to participate in, could also be a solid option for skating enthusiasts.
During the 6Skate Party, you can obviously bring your own rollers or roller skates. However, if you’re not equipped, take note: rentals must be arranged in advance of the event. At the last minute you may struggle to find your size. For the upcoming editions, we’ll meet from 8:30 PM to 2 AM at Salle Colonne, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Please note that reservations are highly recommended!
For skate rentals, reservations are made in advance at the time you buy the presale, subject to stock, and there’s an extra €2 fee. A bar and a cloakroom are on site, and on the food side you can expect comforting guilty pleasures like hot dogs, fries, wings, and chicken burgers. The beginner workshop is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. by reservation.
