A tasty aperitif based on flavorful cocktails and irresistible tapas, what do you say? Let’s head to a Parisian bar likely to make your taste buds more than happy! Welcome to Clandestino.
Nestled in upper Marais, a stone’s throw from the rue de Bretagne, this is such an incredible cocktail bar that greets you for tasty aperitifs. On the first floor, enjoy a trendy décor with skateboards on the ceiling, hampers behind the bar, and raw materials. And if you venture to the basement, you will discover a muted lounge with comfortable sofas under the soft light of candles and Tiffany lamps: Clandestino speakeasy. And bonus: it can be privatized!
Two rooms, two atmospheres. And each has its own bar. The two female bartenders of Clandestino present a very special universe that should be discovered. The one ruling on the speakeasy has trained in London and she draws a strong taste for tasty cocktails with fancy plating from her experience.
Upstairs, shakers genius is Juliette. Coming from Corsica and Turkey, she has polished her art in Greece and is really enjoying surprising us by updating forgotten or even little-known spirits. Both are able to improvise cocktails depending on your mood and taste. But believe us, you better trust them and let yourselves be carried to their own universes.
For us, she came up with a very fruity cocktail based on Luxardo Tequila, Morello cherry syrup and fresh basil, perfect to keep sunny days on going. The second cocktail, smokier and sourer is based on Pisco, Kemon juice, tobacco liquor and fresh orange, to shake up the taste buds. Here, most syrups and juices are homemade and Juliette does not think twice when it comes to shake her cocktails with fresh fruits or their skins depending on her inspirations to keep as many natural flavors as possible.
Then, as we gave her free rein, Juliette chose to surprise us with a very herbal cocktail based on Gin made in Pastis, orgeat syrup, lemon juice and Suze, and another rounder, sweeter cocktail based on grapefruit juice, fresh mint, lillet rose and tequila. Spot on! We loved it.
Delicious cocktails worthy of as flavorful tapas. Lucky for us, with the bar chef and co-founder, Benjamin, we are in good hands. On the menu, we are sure everything is homemade with simple but effective recipes.
The wonderfully runny oeuf parfait is paired with chorizo cream, and artichoke cream, to make our hearts melt. The tuna tataki literally melts in the mouth, so do carrots and the delicious stuffed piquillos topped with pesto.
Another asset of the spot is the happy hour providing the pint for €6. As for tapas, allow about €8-9 per plate to share. And there is a lot to share!
