Pages Blanches is the name of the new patisserie and tea room that opened on boulevard de Courcelles in Paris's 8th arrondissement. Here you'll discover fine French pastries imagined by talented pastry chef Kaori Akazawa, who also brings the Japanese touch of her origins.

Opened just a few months ago at 11 boulevard de Courcelles in Paris's 8th arrondissement, Pages Blanches Pâtisserie et Salons de thé is sure to please. Pages Blanches is the little sister of the Franco-Japanese restaurant Pages, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

After searching in vain for premises close to the restaurant, Kaori finally set up shop in the 8th arrondissement, just a few days before the first lockdown... A difficult start and delays in construction due to the telecommuting of people in the building meant that the boutique-café didn't finally open until February 2022.

Kaori is now at cruising speed, working in a team of two to meet the growing demand from customers who are increasingly seduced by her Japanese-style creations. Kaori admits she loves fine French patisserie, and when she arrived in France, she remembered cakes made with buttercream. Today, her pastries have evolved considerably, and are now lighter and less sweet, with the added bonus of Japanese touches that her customers love.

When you enter the store, you're seduced by the purity of the place, which is very Japanese in the end. With stone walls, a pastry counter and white furniture, it's simple, elegant and welcoming all at once. The tearoom currently seats 9, and is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 7pm.

As for drinks, there's a short menu of coffees and teas to discover. For our part, we opt for Sencha iced tea and Genmaicha hot tea, with their delicious roasted rice flavours.

Then, of course, it's time for pastries. We highly recommend the flans, which are to die for. The vanilla version, with its hint of crème brulée caramel, and the sweet, refined matcha version, are insane. Made with a beautiful puff pastry that's still crisp and not soggy, we're all for it.

Among the best-of, we can't miss the original Paris-Brest with a runny house praline and a wheel reminiscent of its sporting origins, and the house's signature lemon tart.

Just released 3 days ago, the Saint-Honoré Yuzu has caught our eye. We're seduced by the freshness of this pastry, which appears gourmand but turns out to be quite light.

At weekends, Pâtisserie Pages Blanches also offers its famous Japanese strawberry cake. A strawberry pastry with an ultra-moist cookie and whipped cream, all lightly sweetened, we couldn't agree more.

In short, if you're looking for a new tea room where you can enjoy fine pastries, with or without a hint of Japan , you've come to the right place: Pages Blanches.
