Marvel superheroes are coming to Disneyland Paris… But not to any hotel! After offering the Superheroes season for years, the Parisian theme park will open Disney's Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel starting from June 21, 2021. You can book a room from May 18. After several years of embellishment works, the Disney’s Hotel New York, flower of the resort, gets a makeover to include to its atmosphere the universe of Iron Man, Captain America and all the Avengers. A renovation that is fully part of the investment planned for the expansion of the Walt Disney Studios park including three new lands.
To celebrate the opening of the hotel, an exclusive launch offer is to be available for bookings made up to July 29, 2021 for a stay up to March 30, 2022. Visitors who will book prior to this date will leave with an exclusive and limited Marvel artwork by artist Matt Ferguson and will be given a free alcohol-free drink to choose in one of the bars of the hotel.

The hotel was said to open the summer 2020, but over coronavirus, it has been postponed indefinitely. This explains why Disneyland Paris has shared the progress of works on Monday November 16 with several enthusiastic pictures of the lobby. The idea behind this new hotel? Recreating the universe of a New-York modern art gallery.... And the lobby seems to work as a lovely display window for this art gallery. How come? Over 300 works of art - some even marked the 80th anniversary of the Maison des Idées - will be displayed in the hotel.
A huge makeover of its 4-star hotel renamed on the occasion, “The Art of Marvel”. This is the very point of this makeover: showing comics' artistry and influence on modern art making of this hotel a genuine musuem. In all, as Walt Disney Imagineering conceptor-stage director Tom Müller explains, "over 110 artists have been called in" for a never-before-seen "exhibition" that will evolve since the idea - still according to Müller - is to "continue the installation of artworks within the hotel even after the opening". The idea being to "call out to visitors through art".
A concept to the extreme since between the hotel and the convention center, a genuine art gallery stands: the Jack Kirby Legacy Gallery that - as its name suggests it - pays tribute to one of the bigwigs of the Marvel Comics, creator of many superheroes, alongside Joe Simon and Stan Lee such as Captain America, The Fantastic Four, Ant-Man, Hulk, as well as The Eternals. Within this gallery, temporary exhibitions will be displayed related to the Marvel universe. Movie release, land and ride concept-art from parks abroad... As many topics the gallery and the hotel will tackle. And within the rotunda, special tribute is paid to the artist with the exhibition of a permanent collection including 21 comics covers drawn by this legendary artist.
A new area promising guests to dive “to the heart of the action and the epic adventures of their favorite superheroes, from Doctor Strange’s mystic arts to Spider-Man’s vertiginous exploits”. All in all, not less than 476 standard rooms, 65 executive rooms and 8 standard suites await superhero fans. A rehabilitation made possible thanks to the exclusive collaboration between Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios.
The idea of this renovation? Offering “an environment making us think of a luxury and contemporary building from Manhattan”. An urban indoor design that is “elegant and cosmopolite, reminding us of Tony Stark’s style and tastes and the Avengers’ headquarters” and presenting “the art of Marvel in a way to reinvent the idea of an ‘art hotel’”.
As for restaurants, there will be two of them: the Downtown Restaurant offering an all-you-can-eat buffet and gathering the greatest number of artworks in the hotel, and the Manhattan Restaurant with a mouthwatering menu and seated meal. Note that in the latter, a massive 110kg chandelier including 225 pieces of blow glass from Bohemia, designed in a studio in Prague, catches people's eyes as soon as they enter the restaurant. A genuine work of art that required two years of work, from the design to the set up including creation and echoing - because of its framework - to Asgard, Thor's natal world.
There will be two bars as well: the Bleecker Street Lounge in a very New-York-inspired style and inspired by Doctor Strange's universe, and the Skyline Bar, a typically New-York bar that looks a bit like Tony Stark's flat. Two bars providing a list of cocktails with and without alcohol, and they are quite playful: the Skyline Bar is an alcohol-free drink inspired by Hulk's color, while the Bleecker Street Lounge pays tribute to the Supreme Sorcerer with a levitating cocktail... Please! Yet, for now, no detail has been unveiled as for the possibility to come and have lunch in the hotel restaurants or have a drink at the different bars for people outside and non-staying at the hotel because of the health crisis.
In terms of decoration, limited editions will be displayed in the place different rooms and suites while common space will get bright works exhibited to all: comics, movies, posters, sculptures, Iron Man armor, storyboards, props and other costumes will include the hotel for a total immersion.
As for families, children-friendly places have been planned such as the Marvel Design Studio offering your kids to learn how to draww their favorite superheroes, the Hero Training Academy an outdoor sports area with basketball, yoga class, fitness, as well as the Super Hero Station offering hotel guests (and them only), to take pictures with Spider-Man. Last but not least, the Marvel Photos Stations invites hotel guests to come and take a picture in a painting straight from the Marvel universe.
And of course, the traditional stores, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), and gyms inherent to each hotel of the resort. We are looking forward!
