Dumpling and ravioli fans, unite! L’Enveloppe, a restaurant set in Paris 9th arrondissement, invites you to discover its only products available in all shapes and sizes in a very friendly setting. A dumpling revisited and inspired by recipes from all over the world. Gyozas, empanadas, dumplings and gozleme… There’s something for everyone!
A typically Italian ravioli he democratized but which origins are very different. And for good reason, it’s in China that this dough stuffed and sealed before cooked is said to have been created, even though we find a few recipes in Arabic cooking books from the golden age of the Islamic civilization, during the Abbasid era.
Moving on to the menu, it changes every week, and highlight four countries and about fifty recipes around dumplings. On the menu, several possibilities: gyoza, empanadas, pirojki, naan, taloa, Batbouts, pierogis… as many flavors to discover! But every time, an assortment of four “ravioli”, a side, a sauce and a drink and a dessert according to the menu.
A restaurant that the editorial board tried and rather enjoyed. We had a plate of four dumplings from all over the world including, candied pork and soy sauce gyoza, a mushroom pirojki, a very traditional naan and a taloa, a sort of Basque dumpling based on ventresca and Espelette pepper. Our verdict: so good! L’Enveloppe founder Enzo wants original flavors to be respected but also fit the foodies’ taste buds which lead to interesting and tasty compositions, for a true discovery and a fast travel to all over the world.
As for sides, beetroots or potatoes, it’s up to you. We also love the desserts available, a lemon and Timut pepper pie, as well as a coconut pie with Tonka shavings to die for! Please also note that everything is homemade… Honorable mention to the beers served and coming from all over the world as well, and let’s not forget either about the sauces available. That day we enjoyed a very surprising Tortilla sauce. In other words, the new spot to discover asap if you’re a gourmand and a foodie. Let’s go, friends!
