Let’s enter Hotel Westin Paris Vendôme to discover chef David Réal’s cooking and desserts by pastry chef Florence Lesage at restaurant Le First.

Nestled within hotel Westin Paris Vendôme standing on the prestigious rue de Rivoli, Le First restaurant welcomes starving people from the hotel and around every day.

Running the kitchen, chef David Réal provides you with simple but honest cooking, seasonal obviously and to say it all, it’s very thrilling.

Let’s rest assure you, at Le First, you won’t have the timeless and endless menu often available in hotels. No, here, the menu is short and clear and it’s for the best.

On the menu, then, three starters, three fishes, three meats and three desserts. Simple and effective. Facing the Tuileries garden, sit in the boudoir-inspired and purple and gold-colored restaurant, and have a look at the menu.

As a prelude, we have the grilled squid (€22) served with Bellota chorizo and virgin sauce, a flavorful starter beautiful to look at and tasty to eat; and the thyme and mushroom soup (€24) with golden croutons and topped with squash seeds, creamy as can be.

The third starter could whet your appetite just as well and you’ll be right to go for it, since it’s a slice of pâté en croute (€20) based on poultry and foie gras by Meilleur Ouvrier de France Charcutier Arnaud Nicolas.

Then, we move on to main courses, and we all have meat. The roasted and organic poultry breast (€32) served with finely mashed potatoes and chestnut for a sweet moment; while the grilled pork chop (€29) from Ferme d’Abotia and lentils from Puy are deliciously hearty.

But that day, we fell in love with one thing: the exquisite beef hanger steak toast (€36) spiced up with ginger condiment and served with cooked New Zealand spinach, a dish we don’t expect to find at Le First, and yet… What a beautiful surprise!

Let’s now move on to desserts created with love by Florence Lesage, and the young pastry chef who some experience down the belt and works with thoroughly selected ingredients. For instance, she works with Macae chocolate, a Grand Cru chocolate from Brazil, and it’s brilliant. She revisits tiramisu (€14) as a light dessert marked with Moka coffee from Ethiopia. She also reinvents mille-feuilles but design and clean fashion with caramelized puff pastry and Madagascan vanilla ice cream. It’s a big yes for us!
