Urban Films Festival 2018 at Paris Forum des Halles

On October 9 to 14, 2018 Urban Films Festival is coming to Paris Forum des Halles. This 13th edition will provide short-movies screenings, animations and conferences with a common denominator: the street.

This year’s Urban Films Festival jury (chaired by comedian Jamel Debbouze) received over 500 short-movies, directed by movie fans from all over the world. Their only common denominator is that they all take place in the street, with klaxons in the background.

The jury selected 37 movies belonging to very different genres (documentary, fiction, animation,…) and coming from all over the world (Rio, Montreal, Nouméa, Beirut…).

To see them, there’s nothing simpler: come to the Canopée des Halles from October 9 to 14, 2018. All screenings are free of charge. But first of all, the program has a few surprises in stores: fashion shows, dance battles and exhibitions. We can even attend a few conferences take part in workshops… In other words, there’ll be something for everyone.

Don’t miss the opening night open to all and organized on Friday October 12 from 7:30 p.m. at La Place within the Canopée. On the menu:

  • Screening of three short movies:
Paris 8, la Fac Hip-Hop, an exclusive web series by Pascal Tessaud who directed Brookly
Grand Hôtel, an exclusive fiction directed by Opéra de Paris 3e scène
Make It Soul by Jean(Charles Mbotti Malolo, former winner of the Urban Films Festival who enjoyed the award from Jamel Debbouze’s production company, Kissfilm.

  • Battle.mov:
Battle.mov is a competition bringing together 8 dancers facing off through 1-minute long performances filmed in touristic places throughout the city. A battle of a new kind mixing medias, hip-hop performances to discover at the same time the jewels in the city. 4 dancers have been selected by a jury to face off each other in semi-finales and the finales of the Urban Films Festival.
