The Lion King is back in the movies in July 2019 in a movie produced by Jon Favreau with a brand-new avant-garde technology enabling us to relive one of Walt Disney's greatest sucees in an exclusive and spectacular way.
Like in the original movie, these animals talked and are voiced by renown actors. Among them: the talented Beyoncé who plays Nala and should give us a remastered version of the famous duet “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with her costar Donald Glover playing Simba. For the special effects, Rob Legato known for making us dream with Avatar and Titanic, among others.
An incredible cast then described by Jon Favreau himself as follows: “It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life”.
Deep in the African savanna, all animals celebrate the birth of their future king, Simba. Months go by. Sambal idolizes his father, king Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone seems to agree. Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne, Scar, has plans of his owns. The battle for Pride Lands is ravages with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately leading in Simba’s exile. With help from two new friends, Timon and Pumbaa, the young king will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his...
The Lion King is a sincere live adaptation very respectful of the animated movie out in 1994. Perfect photography and special effetcs that keep on blurying the line between reality and fiction. But the movie may be a tad too respectful and has nothing new to offer in terms of the plot and it may lacks a little something to make the whole difference.
Yet, we still like to discover - or rediscover - this Walt Disney masterpiece with a sophisticated live version, characters still as touching and a 3-star voice cast. Honorable mention to the opening scene, still as moving, fascinating and cult. In other words, a must-see for Diney fans who rediscover a classic.
A movie to discover this summer 2019 in theaters.
