Comme des Bêtes 2 is an animated film directed by Chris Renaud, produced by Illumination Entertainment, and starring Patton Oswalt, Kevin Hart, Harrison Ford, Eric Stonestreet, Ellie Kemper and Jenny Slate. The feature film, which follows the first installment released in 2016, features Max, Duke, Pompon and their companions in a new adventure full of humor and family situations. After its theatrical release, the film will join the Netflix catalog in autumn 2025.
The trailer recaptures the endearing comic atmosphere of the first film, while introducing new characters and new challenges for Max and his friends.
Comme des Bêtes 2 will be available on Netflix from October 10, 2025.
Synopsis: Fox-Terrier Max has to adjust to the arrival of baby Liam in his family. On a trip to the farm, he encounters hostile new animals and meets Rico, an old dog who helps him overcome his anxieties. Meanwhile, Gidget tries to save Max's toy in an apartment full of cats, while Pompon, convinced he's a superhero, embarks on a risky mission with Daisy. All must find the courage to face their deepest fears.
In its original version, Comme des Bêtes 2 brings together a host of renowned actors: Patton Oswalt(Ratatouille), Kevin Hart(Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Eric Stonestreet(Modern Family), Ellie Kemper(Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Nick Kroll(Big Mouth), Jenny Slate(Venom) and Harrison Ford(Star Wars, Indiana Jones). The French version features Philippe Lacheau, François Damiens, Willy Roveli and Elodie Fontan.
Produced by the studio behind Minions and Despicable Me, Comme des Bêtes 2 follows in the tradition of animated films with an accessible, humorous tone. The story explores themes such as friendship, family and self-acceptance, through a gallery of animals with varied personalities.
This film could appeal to young viewers attracted by colorful, rhythmic worlds, but also to parents who will recognize certain everyday situations. Fans of Illumination productions will find a style similar to The Minions or Despicable Me. Those who enjoyed Zootopie or Rio might also be interested in this dynamic tale centered on domestic animals.
Our opinion on Comme des Bêtes 2:
Comme des Bêtes 2 is a film full of humor and "cuteness" (according to my 6-year-old son). Our little four-legged heroes are disturbingly realistic, and their behavior is, once again, very well imitated.
As the synopsis suggests, the story unfolds in two truly distinct parts. On the one hand, there's Max, who has to face up to his new life and learn to let Liam grow up without being constantly on the lookout. Parents find themselves very much in this part of the story: how do we help our children to flourish while keeping them safe? On the other hand, our hero's friends go on a rescue mission in New York.
In short, Comme des Bêtes 2 is a very funny cartoon, mixing love, action and adventure! You'll come away happy and full of energy. The kids are unanimous: Super Pompon is definitely their favorite character!
Initially released in 2019, this second opus develops several parallel plots where the animals are confronted with challenges that are both comical and touching. The Illumination production confirms its commitment to offering accessible, fast-paced entertainment tailored to an international family audience.
