The Château d’Ecouen and the National Museum of Renaissance take part in European Heritage Days held on Saturday September 18 and Sunday 19, 2021. On the occasion, enjoy free guided tours for all.

For European Heritage Days, the Château d'Ecouen opens for free on Saturday September 18 and Sunday 19, 2021.

This Renaissance castle – set 20km north of Paris – was built in the 16th century for Anne de Montmorency. For her estate, the constable sees everything big and hires the best artisans of his time: Jean Bullant, Bernard Palissy, Masséot Abaquesne, Jean Goujon, perhaps Nicolo dell’Abbate will come in turns to the Château d'Écouen to include the most beautiful innovations of their times: tiling, stained-glass windows, paneling, frieze, painted landscapes, marble…

Today, the Château d’Ecouen houses the Musée de la Renaissancewhich works mostly come from the Musée de Cluny (Paris). Among these pieces of work, the splendid David and Bethsabe tapestry, with constraining dimensions, 75-m long and 4.50-m high, and one of the first ever copies of the famous The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, ordered in 1506 in Milan to Marco d’Oggiono.

The National Museum of Renaissance offers you to rediscover the castle and their collections with the museum curators and thanks to an exceptional program of tours, workshops and conferences. Discover works in a new light thanks to Aplanos, the iron man, a video creation by Xavier de Richemont.
