European Heritage Days 2018 at the French Ministry of the Interior

On September 15 and 16, European Heritage Days are the occasion to visit the French Ministry of the Interior set in Paris 8th arrondissement. Lounges, gardens, offices and even former jails are to be discovered.

As it happens every year, these European Heritage Days 2018 are the occasion to discover and come inside places that usually keep their doors closed to the general public, as it’s the case with most major political places.

This September, on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, the Ministry of the Interior invites you to discover its loins with free tours held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. You can also admire the lounges, the minister’s office, the function room as well as the garden.

By the way, did you know this building still holds one of the jails that were used by the Gestapo to incarcerate resistance fighters? Discover these underground jails (fortunately no longer used!) by following a tour dedicated to the occupation during the second world war.

If it’s not necessary to book in advance, we advise you to come early, the queue can be long to visit this kind of institution!
