European Heritage Days 2018 at Paris Musée Cognacq-Jay
Set in Paris 3rd arrondissement and devoted to the art in the 18th century, the Musée Cognacq-Jay opens its doors to all and holds several guided tours on September 15 and 16 as part of European Heritage Days 2018.
The Musée Cognacq-Jay presents a rich collection of sculptures, furniture, paintings and other works of art gathered between 1900 and 1925 by the founder of La Samaritaine, Ernest Cognacq and his wife Marie-Louise Jay. This common collection has latter been donated to Paris, a precious treasure you can admire for free along the guided tours held on September 15 and 16, 2018, as part of European Heritage Days!
On the menu of European Heritage Days 2018 at the Musée Cognacq-Jay:
- Guided tour “Shared lights” - Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Learn more about the philosophers of the Enlightenment and their influence on the daily life and the lifestyle of the 18th century through works displayed throughout the museum. Registration on the spot within the limit of seats available.
- Tour-conference in duo “Open furniture” - Saturday at 3 p.m.
Discover the furniture of the collection, their fabrication and their use, thanks to the explanations of cabinetmaker Claude Nicolet and 18th century furniture specialist speaker Sylvia Gagin. Registration on the spot within the limit of seats available.
- Tour-surprise animation with your family in the museum’s collections - Sunday at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Mysterious feathers, animals from afar and surprising characters, the museum shares its secrets with children and their parents! Registration on the spot, within the limit of seats available.
