Austria as seen through arts… For the 36th edition of European Heritage Days, the Austrian Embassy invites you to discover its premises on Saturday September 21, 2019. You’re invited to walk freely from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to the historic lounges housing a display of works from the Austrian studios in Vienna.
But let’s talk about history, shall we? The origins of the building go all the way back to the 18th century. The inner courtyard is said to have been partially elevated in 1894 under the direction of architect Louis Parent. Several owners have been following one another since the second part of the 19th century including the family of the Vicomtes de Chézelles. By the notarial decree from December 22, 1949, the Republic of Austria becomes the owner of the building and the field. Let’s make the best of European Heritage Days to discover this architectural jewel… Let’s go, friends!
