Originally, there’s no business strategy nor political message. There’s just a wish to put a smile back on all the people’s lips tired by their morose daily life thanks to the invasion of the giant 1-m 34-tall teddy bears in Les Gobelins.
To be discovered since late October in stores and on the terraces of this Parisian neighborhood, between the 5th and 13th arrondissements, teddy bears are everywhere: in pharmacies, bookstores, wine cellars, opticians… Every time in different situations: eating, reading, working out… They set their cuteness at Les Gobelins for our greatest joy!
Behind this completely crazy but great idea, there’s Philippe, a bookkeeper in the Avenue des Gobelins. He buys the teddy bears himself and send them for free in the surrounding stores.
Today, the phenomenon is so wide that a Facebook Page has even been created. We discover the famous bears in many and sometimes comical situations… We also learn that you can spend 48 hours with one of the Gobelins bears. To do so, simply send an email at email@example.com. But careful though, no theft nor abuse! The POGO (Protection des Ours des Gobelins Organisée – Organized Protection of the Gobelins Bears) keeps an eye out.
What’s next for these sweet and moving teddy bears? According to Le Figaro, the “bears have decided to have a great meeting on the Epiphany Day in a movie theater to announce their next destination… Before coming back for a second season 2!”.
