Plan your summer journeys now! The RER B will be suspended in Paris between July 25 and August 16, 2026. For 23 consecutive days, the central section of the line will be closed between Gare du Nord and stations south of Paris. This summer closure is part of a program to modernize the Île-de-France network. It is a necessary but disruptive measure for the many daily commuters who use this busy line.
During this period, RER B trains will terminate at Gare du Nord, but only above ground. It will therefore not be possible to cross Paris from one end to the other on this line. This operation will particularly affect connections between airports, the southern and northern suburbs, and intermodal connections in the heart of the capital.

The closure will take place in two phases. From July 25 to August 7, 2026, the line will be closed between Gare du Nord and Bourg-la-Reine. Then, from August 8 to 16, the closure will extend to La Croix de Berny and Robinson, as explained by our colleagues at Le Parisien. These 23 days will be used to carry out several technical projects: renewal of track equipment, replacement of ballast and sleepers, and signaling work.
The work is also intended to prepare for the gradual rollout of the NExTEO system, expected in 2030. This new system aims to improve the regularity and speed of trains in a context of high ridership. The replacement of the Bourg-la-Reine signaling station is also scheduled to be completed during this period.
Prior to this closure, several temporary interruptions are planned on the line. On the Pentecost weekend, around May 23, 2026, there will be a disruption to the northern section of the RER B and the K line. This is to connect new facilities in Aulnay-sous-Bois and La Plaine Stade de France as part of the future CDG Express.
In addition, other partial closures will take place in the first half of 2026. These will notably affect the periods from April 4 to 6, April 18 and June 27, between Denfert-Rochereau and La Croix de Berny/Robinson. These interruptions will also have an impact on travel in the Île-de-France region.
This work is part of a €3.8 billion plan to regenerate the Île-de-France network by 2026. Other lines will also be affected, including metro lines 4, 8, 12, and 13, as well as RER lines A and C. The full schedule of works and alternative solutions will be communicated in the months leading up to the disruptions.
Users are advised to plan their journeys in advance during this summer period. The scale of the work on the RER B line reflects a desire to modernize, but will cause significant disruption across the entire network.
