Metro, RER and Transilien: which lines should you avoid this weekend, October 24 and 25?

Transports in Île-de-France call for caution this weekend of October 17-18, 2026, as a protest against the cost of living is announced for Saturday, works on several lines get underway, and the first Toussaint departures begin.

Transport in Paris and Île-de-France remains disrupted this weekend, October 31 and November 1, 2026, the last weekend of the Toussaint school holidays. On Sunday morning, Metro line 13 is closed along its entire route, from the Hauts-de-Seine to Seine-Saint-Denis, via Paris.

On the RER front, RER E does not run as far as Tournan, and the northern section of RER B is operating at reduced speed. Several sections of Transilien lines K, P and R in Seine-et-Marne are also out of service.

Saturday, Halloween, the October 31 demonstration adds to the disruption caused by construction work. The Paris Police Prefecture has banned undeclared gatherings around the National Assembly, the Élysée Palace and the Champs-Élysées all weekend, and no route has been approved at this stage. Before setting out, it’s a good idea to check Île-de-France Mobilités, the RATP traffic updates or Bonjour RATP’s roundup of construction work.

October 31 demonstration: which stations could close?

Update as of Friday, October 30: RATP has not yet announced any station closures linked to the demonstration. On previous Saturdays, the list was released the evening before or on the morning of the demonstration, at the request of the Paris Police Prefecture.

Gatherings are banned in central Paris. An order issued by the Paris Police Prefecture prohibits all undeclared gatherings from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday in several areas, including the National Assembly (7th arrondissement), the Élysée Palace (8th arrondissement) and the Champs-Élysées. The pot-banging protest the Yellow Vests had planned for Friday evening outside the Palais-Bourbon was also banned and canceled.

The sit-in announced for 2 p.m. Saturday outside the National Assembly therefore falls within a prohibited area. As for the march, the prefecture rejected the route from Bastille to Nation proposed by the Île-de-France inter-union group, as well as the Yellow Vests’ route from Bastille to Concorde. It has proposed the Boulevards of the Marshals, from Porte de Bagnolet (20th arrondissement) to Porte de Charenton (12th arrondissement), and the unions have filed an emergency appeal with the administrative court.

Even when gatherings are banned, they can lead to station closures as a precaution. The stations most at risk are:

  • Around the National Assembly: Assemblée nationale and Solférino (line 12), Invalides (lines 8 and 13, RER C) and Concorde (lines 1, 8 and 12).
  • Along the Boulevards of the Marshals: Porte de Bagnolet (line 3), Porte de Montreuil (line 9), Porte de Vincennes (line 1), Porte Dorée and Porte de Charenton (line 8).
  • Tramway: T3a and T3b, which run along the Boulevards of the Marshals, could be suspended along part of their routes.

By way of reminder, on October 24 more than 30 stations closed from 9 a.m. The T3a was suspended between Montsouris and Porte de Vincennes, and the T3b between Porte de Montreuil and Porte de Vincennes, from 10 a.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday. This gives an idea of the possible scale, but does not prejudge Saturday’s list.

The interior minister is urging vigilance in public squares from 8 p.m.: it is best to avoid République, Châtelet-Les Halles and Bastille in the evening. Our article on the October 31 demonstration in Paris is following developments live.

Which lines should you avoid this weekend, October 31 and November 1?

On Sunday morning, Line 13 is the metro’s main trouble spot: it will remain closed until noon. On Saturday, everything will depend on the closures requested by the prefecture around the demonstration.

On the RER, the RER E is suspended in the east between Villiers-sur-Marne and Tournan, while the northern section of the RER B is running only two out of every three trains. On the Transilien network, lines K, P and R account for most of the weekend service disruptions. The good news for the north, however, is that the RER D is once again running trains to Creil at weekends.

Metro: Why is Line 13 closed on Sunday morning?

On Sunday, November 1, All Saints’ Day, the Line 13 is closed along its entire length until noon. These Sunday closures are in preparation for the arrival of the new MF19 trains, as we explained in our article on Line 13’s Sunday closures.

A replacement bus is running between Asnières-Gennevilliers Les Courtilles and Porte de Clichy. Line 14 is taking over between Saint-Lazare and Mairie de Saint-Ouen, and the RER C also serves Porte de Clichy. The rest of the metro network is affected by station closures:

  • Line 13: Porte de Clichy station is closed all day through Sunday, November 1, inclusive, due to modernization work.

  • Line 4: Saint-Michel station is closed through December 19, 2026, inclusive, due to renovation work. We tell you all about the project here.

  • Line 8: République station is closed through April 22, 2027, inclusive, due to renovation work. Find all the details about this closure.

Line 2 has regained its full route this week: La Chapelle, Stalingrad, Jaurès, Colonel Fabien, Belleville, Couronnes and Ménilmontant are being served again following the completion of work on the viaduct. The next works to note are on line 7bis, starting November 5, according to the RATP works page.

RER A, B, C, D and E: What service disruptions are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday?

RER A

  • On Saturday, October 31, the first train of the day between Cergy-Le Haut and Maisons-Laffitte (before 5:10 a.m.) is canceled due to engineering work, as it is from Tuesday to Saturday through November 7.

No daytime closures are scheduled this weekend. Evening service disruptions on the Cergy branch will resume on weekdays; the full schedule is available on the RER A works page.

RER B

  • All day Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, local industrial action is disrupting service on the northern section of the line: expect two out of every three trains to run.

If you’re flying from or heading to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, allow extra time. For Orly, Line 14 remains the most direct option from central Paris.

RER C

  • From 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, service is suspended between Dourdan and Paris Austerlitz due to construction work (every Sunday through November 29).
  • From 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, service is suspended between Saint-Martin-d'Étampes and Paris Austerlitz due to construction work (every Sunday through November 29).

If you're returning from a weekend away via Essonne, it's best to catch a train before 9 p.m. Follow updates on our live RER C updates page.

RER D

  • Until and including December 31, service is adjusted across the entire line (new maintenance workshops are being built).

The weekend closures between Stade de France-Saint-Denis and Creil ended on October 25. Find all the details on our dedicated RER D page.

RER E

  • On Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, all day, train services are suspended between Villiers-sur-Marne-Le Plessis-Trévise and Tournan due to engineering work. This is the last weekend of the disruption.
  • On Saturday and Sunday from 10:45 p.m., train services are suspended between Chelles-Gournay and Nanterre-La Folie due to engineering work (every weekend until December 6).

During the day, it is still possible to travel across Paris on the RER E. The line is being tracked in real time on our website.

Transilien: which lines are closed on Saturday and Sunday?

Three lines are affected by service cuts, all departing from Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est and Gare de Lyon. Lines H, L and N are affected only on weekday evenings, starting Monday, November 2.

Line K

  • All day on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, service is suspended between Gare du Nord and Mitry-Claye due to construction work.

Line P

  • On Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, service is suspended between Gare de l'Est and Provins due to engineering work.
  • Service is suspended between Gare de l'Est and Coulommiers all day on Saturday, October 31, and until 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, due to engineering work.
  • From 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, service is suspended between Gare de l'Est and Château-Thierry due to engineering work (every weekend through December 6).

R Line

  • All day Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, train services are suspended between Melun and Montargis, as well as to Montereau via Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons, due to engineering work.

From Paris Gare de Lyon, it is still possible to travel to Melun by train, then continue to Fontainebleau-Avon on a replacement bus. Stops and timetables for the replacement buses are available on Transilien SNCF and in the Île-de-France Mobilités app.

Trams and buses: what to expect this weekend?

Until Sunday, November 1, inclusive, the T3a tram line will be suspended all day between Stade Charléty and Porte d'Ivry (13th arrondissement) while the tracks are being renovated. A replacement bus serves the closed stations, as stated on the T3a works page.

If the march is routed onto the Boulevards des Maréchaux on Saturday, the T3a and T3b tram lines could also be suspended farther east. Several bus routes would then be diverted at the Porte de Bagnolet, Porte de Montreuil, Porte de Vincennes, Porte Dorée and Porte de Charenton. It’s best to check your route just before setting off.

Are the metro and RER on strike this weekend?

No general strike on public transport this weekend. Only the northern section of the RER B is affected by local industrial action, with two out of three trains running on Saturday and Sunday. Other disruptions are due to engineering works and possible closures requested by the prefecture.

The next major date is already set: the cross-industry strike on November 5, with a strike notice filed at SNCF.

How to plan a day out this All Saints’ Day weekend?

On Saturday, the simplest option is to plan your outings for the morning or away from the National Assembly district and the eastern gates of Paris. On Halloween night, costume parties are likely to fill the last metro trains, so have a backup plan for getting home.

On Sunday, remember that Line 13 will be closed until noon. Holidaymakers returning home are also expected to crowd train stations and airports in the late afternoon and evening: long-distance train services are listed on SNCF Connect, airport terminals on Paris Aéroport, and road conditions on Sytadin.

For an overview, see all the disruptions this week and our daily traffic update. Visitors passing through can consult our guide to ticket options since the end of paper tickets to choose the right one.

These detours are manageable, as long as you know about them before setting off. To make the most of this final weekend of the holidays, browse our ideas for things to do on Saturday, Sunday’s program, the weekend’s flea markets and garage sales or the week’s best deals.
