A curfew will be in effect in République and Les Halles in Paris from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the nights of October 31 to November 1 and November 1 to 2, 2026. In Hauts-de-Seine, a restriction has also been announced for unaccompanied minors around four shopping centers, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on those same nights. Here’s what you need to know about the areas affected and the exceptions.

Curfews are planned in Paris and have been announced in the Hauts-de-Seine for Halloween and All Saints’ Day weekend. In the capital, a ban on being out and about will apply to adults and minors in two areas around République and Les Halles, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the nights of October 31 to November 1 and November 1 to 2, 2026. In the Hauts-de-Seine, the prefect has announced a measure targeting unaccompanied minors around four shopping centers, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on those same nights.

The people affected and the hours therefore vary by sector. For travel in Paris or the suburbs, these restrictions should be distinguished from bans on gatherings and any measures affecting transport.

The curfew returns to Paris this weekend, on October 31 and November 1, 2026, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the République and Châtelet-Les Halles districts. With further demonstrations expected in the capital, the police prefecture has decided to extend the restrictive measure for two more nights. [Read more]

Where and when will the curfew apply in Paris?

The prefectural order No. 2026-01485 of October 30 prohibits people from entering two areas delineated on the maps attached to the order:

  • Place de la République: the area shown in Appendix 2;
  • Les Halles area: the zone around the Forum shown in Appendix 3.

In these two areas, the ban will apply from 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, until 6 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, and then from 11 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 2. It applies to both adults and minors. This order does not impose a curfew on everyone on the night of Friday, October 30, into Saturday, October 31.

Exceptions are provided for residents who can prove that they live within or near the zone and need to cross it, workers who have to use it, and public service personnel, including emergency services. The text does not provide for a general exemption for people returning from a Halloween party.

A separate arrangement for minors in certain areas of Paris

Another measure concerns minors not accompanied by at least one of their legal guardians, with extended hours: from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the three nights from October 30 to November 2.

The 8th arrondissement town hall specifically lists the Étoile, Champs-Élysées, Élysée, Madeleine, Concorde and Gare Saint-Lazare zones. Exceptions apply to medical emergencies and travel required for training, subject to proof. These are designated areas, not a ban covering the entire arrondissement.

What curfews have been announced in the Hauts-de-Seine?

In its official statement on October 29, the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine announced a curfew for unaccompanied minors, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., on the nights of October 31 to November 1 and November 1 to 2, around the following sites:

  • Les Quatre Temps, in La Défense;
  • Le CNIT, in La Défense;
  • So Ouest, in Levallois-Perret;
  • Qwartz, in Villeneuve-la-Garenne.

This announcement applies to the four commercial areas, not the entire Hauts-de-Seine department. The announcement says that orders will be issued to set out the details: the exact boundaries and any possible exemptions remain to be checked in the final texts.

Have subway station closures been confirmed?

As of the latest check on October 30, no notices related to these new curfews were visible on the RATP traffic pages consulted. The Paris order of October 30 does not itself require any station closures or bus diversions. Restrictions on people’s movements and decisions concerning transport are governed by their own procedures.

To plan a journey, the RATP traffic updates and the Île-de-France Mobilités journey planner let you check announced disruptions. An itinerary that includes a stretch on foot should also take account of areas subject to curfew and the applicable hours.
