Due to maintenance work, Cable C1 will be completely closed for 11 consecutive days this summer. Traffic interruption dates, alternatives... Here’s more on the total shutdown of the urban cable car in Val-de-Marne.

This summer, the works will ramp up underground. Traffic disruptions are expected, notably on the RER A, B, C and D, but also on metro lines 4, 8, 12 and 13 of the metro.

As every summer, public transport in Paris and Île-de-France will be disrupted due to major modernization works. Public surface transport will also be affected. This includes the tramways T1 and T2. In the air, the urban cable car of Val-de-Marne will not be spared either. On social media, Île-de-France Mobilités announces that the famous Câble C1 will be totally out of service this summer and for 11 consecutive days.

Cable C1: the line will be completely closed from August 3 to 13, 2026, inclusive

In detail, "the C1 line will be completely closed, on weekdays and weekends, for its annual maintenance from August 3 to August 13, 2026, inclusive". Because of these works, the five Île-de-France cable car stations—Créteil Pointe du Lac, Limeil-Brévannes - Plage Bleue, Valenton - Le Château, La Végétale - La Fontaine Saint-Martin, and Villa Nova—will be inaccessible for the entire duration of the project.

A setback for users of Câble C1, who seem to have widely embraced this new mode of public transport in Île-de-France. In fact, by the end of March, the symbolic milestone of one million passengers carried had been surpassed.

Cable car closed for 11 days: alternatives

So how will you get around between Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges from August 3 to 13? What are the alternatives? Île-de-France Mobilités has announced a replacement bus service. These buses will serve the five stops of the cable car for the entire duration of the works.

Beyond these substitute shuttles, several regular bus lines connect the stations. For example, you can board N°428 to reach the Limeil-Brévannes town hall from Créteil - Point du Lac. Meanwhile, the N°430 bus links Limeil-Brévannes with the La Végétale station. Finally, the N°427 line runs from Valenton to the Villa Nova terminus in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
