For the final stages of the Coupe du Monde 2026, the Ville de Paris is rolling out an unprecedented plan to support fan gatherings. Dubbed 'La Fan zone, c'est Paris', the initiative includes several arrangements in different neighborhoods of the capital to allow Parisians and visitors to follow the last matches of the Blues in optimal conditions.
Starting Thursday, July 9, 2026, on the occasion of the quarter-final between the France and Morocco, two areas that are particularly lively on the evenings of major sporting events will be closed to traffic. The Marais district in central Paris and the Roquette in the 11th arrondissement will thus become pedestrian zones from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.. The aim is to ease supporters’ movements while keeping gatherings under control.
If the French team keeps progressing in the tournament and this trial proves successful, this arrangement will be extended to the upcoming fixtures:
Another announced measure: the terraces and pop-up terraces of cafés and restaurants will be allowed to stay open until 2 a.m. for all match nights, so fans can follow the games at venues in the capital.
The city has also signed an engagement charter with the professional associations in the restaurant sector. The agreement includes, among other provisions, honoring the permitted hours, the pedestrianization measures in place, a ban on selling alcohol for takeaway, the free provision of water for customers, and initiatives to prevent gender-based and sexual violence.
Fans will be able to enjoy the final matches of the Coupe du Monde 2026 at several public viewing venues around the capital, in a collective, festive atmosphere that could extend all the way to the final if the Bleus keep their run going!
