The capital is often empty in summer. It's an opportunity to take full advantage of the many summer events the capital has to offer. But the long school vacations are also the time chosen by RATP and SNCF to carry out major works. At this time of year, public transport is less frequented by users.
Work is planned on four metro lines, almost all RER lines, and one tram line. After years of work to automate the line, line 4continuesto experience occasional service interruptions, particularly between Les Halles and Vavin stations for 19 days this summer, from July 6 to 24, 2026.
Running between Porte de Clignancourt and Bagneux – Lucie Aubrac station in Hauts-de-Seine, line 4 is one of the busiest lines on the Paris metro. It is worth noting that this line serves the Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, and Gare Montparnasse train stations, as well as Châtelet, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and Denfert-Rochereau.
This summer, users of this line who are stuck in Paris will have to adapt and find alternative routes. Ten stations will be closed, including major transfer points such as Châtelet and Montparnasse station. The stations affected are: Les Halles, Châtelet, Cité, Saint-Michel, Odéon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Saint-Sulpice, Saint-Placide, Montparnasse-Bienvenüe, and Vavin.
