The Marne swimming spot in Joinville-le-Pont, in the Val-de-Marne (94), is back for summer 2026. The Joinville-le-Pont beach, set on the marina’s sandbank, will welcome swimmers from Saturday 20 June to Monday 31 August 2026, at the same time as its neighbor in Maisons-Alfort. A great bit of news for Île-de-France residents, especially since this beach is just a short walk from the RER A, on the doorstep of the Bois de Vincennes.
The territory Paris Est Marne & Bois, which runs the site in partnership with the City, kicked off the season on June 20, 2026. The beach is now open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Birthplace of the riverside guinguettes, Joinville-le-Pont is reviving a century-old tradition: people used to swim and dance here long before the 1970 ban, and the spirit of Chez Gégène remains never far away.
Located at 2 quai Gabriel Péri, 94340 Joinville-le-Pont, the site offers two separate pools for adults and children, continuously supervised by lifeguards, with sunbeds available free of charge depending on availability. Reservations can be made online via the Marne Bois Plages (À la Plage by Paris Est Marne & Bois) platform up to four days before the desired slot, or on-site the same day subject to space, with payment by card or cash.
Prices: 3 euros for local residents (proof of address required), 8 euros for external visitors, and 10 euros for large families. Access is free for children under 4 and for accompanied disabled people. Note that anyone under 16 must be accompanied.
As in Maisons-Alfort, the Joinville-le-Pont basin is launching this year a system of swimming in filtered river water, a first in France: Marne water is drawn, then treated through sand filtration, activated carbon, and UV before supplying the pools. The Regional Health Agency conducts regular measurements and analyses in parallel, and temporary closures remain possible if water quality declines. The Prefecture of Val-de-Marne also reiterates that swimming is formally prohibited outside the designated sites. For a summer heads-up: the Saint-Maur-des-Fossés beach opened on June 20, but for only one month, until July 19, 2026. The Champigny-sur-Marne beach is accessible from July 4 to July 19, 2026.
