We were dreading it and here it is: the second coronavirus epidemic wave is hitting France. As Paris is on maximum alert, some may fear public transit be crowded and so will other places. Here a few tips and tricks to avoid them.

It is official, the second wave is here and more and more health measures are implemented. In Paris, the epidemic grows and the possibility of finding yourselves in a crowded place can be worrying. Yet, there are a few tips and tricks to enable you to make the most of Paris without having to be in a crowd. Instructions:

Instead of peak hours, go for less speed

Some people are already committed to this habit: reworking on your hours (when you can) in order to avoid peak hours in public transit. Yet, from one day to the next, you can feel like you are far from being the only person to have thought about it. By leaving later or earlier, the train can be empty, or it can be overcrowded and let us be honest it is never very pleasant (and even less with Covid).

Yet, the good news is that you can download the RATP app and be informed on the crowds first and then to alert users of off-peak times. As for museums and monuments in Paris, you can even know the crowds in some places, the visit gauge or the waiting time before you even get there. This is what we show on our website thanks to our partnership with Affluences. For instance, if you read an article on Sortiraparis about an exhibition at the Louvre, you can notice at the bottom of the article, where you can read about the practical information, an indicator giving you details as for the real-time crowd.

Good spots to rediscover in the week

Some Parisian markets are to be visited and you can enjoy a very tasty meal after shopping there. This is the case with the Marché des Enfants Rouges in the heart of Paris. It enjoys the ideal location, by a metro station and is filled with good produces and tasty restaurants including a Moroccan caterer providing you with mint tea reminding you of your vacations. Usually coveted, the Marché des Enfants Rouges yet suffers from a reduction in visitors even though sellers and restaurants are here, it is always empty in the afternoon. You can then make the most of it and enjoy a nice afternoon snack.

Covered passages in town or terraces by gardens are also a good deal in the week to treat yourself to a small break in a great setting. In the Galerie Vivienne, the Bistrot Vivienne and Le Petit Valentin both provide a terrace in this magnificent passage while you can enjoy the setting and good food on the plate.

Terraces in the Jardin du Palais-Royal or at the Place Valois are also a great idea and make you feel like you are discovering Paris like in the Emily in Paris show!

Confidential places

There are also places hidden, hesitantly shared, or even little-known but they are worth it!
