The weather is bright and sunny across Paris and Île-de-France, and many of us are almost worried it won’t last. Will this spring-like spell continue? Will rain eventually spoil the sunshine we've been craving? Here's everything you need to know about the forecast for the coming days.

The spring-like weather that has settled over Paris and the Île-de-France region this week—will it last? After weeks of tumultuous weather marked by storms, heavy rains, and flooding, the week of February 23rd brought a noticeable shift. An unexpected burst of spring arrived in the region, with temperatures reaching as high as 20°C on Wednesday, February 25th, in Paris—well above seasonal averages. But will this pleasant spell endure? The upcoming weekend—February 28th and March 1st—already signals some uncertainty, as the weather looks set to change again next week. Here’s what you need to know.

A weekend of clouds and showers

On Saturday, February 28, the weather will be partly cloudy with showers expected in Paris and Île-de-France. Temperatures will drop back to between 7 and 13°C, according to Franceinfo Météo, far from the mildness seen earlier in the week. The first of March looks somewhat calmer, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from 4 to 13°C. This should allow the biggest Lunar New Year parade to go ahead smoothly. As meteo-paris.com explains, the high-pressure system will rebuild starting Sunday, heralding a more settled spell at the start of the week, though not quite reaching the exceptional levels of last Wednesday.

Monday, March 2: Calm returns to the capital

Starting Monday, March 2nd, the Paris region is gradually bouncing back. Sunshine is returning, and temperatures are climbing to around 16 to 18°C in the afternoons, according to tameteo.com forecasts. A warm southerly wind is helping lift the mercury. Mornings remain chilly, hovering around 3 to 5°C, but the afternoons are beginning to feel like spring again. It's a perfect opportunity for a walk to enjoy the early-blooming trees taking form in Paris at the start of March.

Tuesday the 3rd and Wednesday the 4th of March: mild weather expected

Tuesday looks set to be the brightest day of the week, with mostly clear skies and afternoon temperatures around 16°C in Paris. On Wednesday, a few clouds and some light showers may appear during the day, but they’re unlikely to disrupt overall conditions. Temperatures will stay steady between 16 and 17°C, staying well above the seasonal average, which typically hovers around 10 to 13°C in March across the northern half of France. It’s a perfect excuse for a walk to enjoy the blooming magnolias in Paris or catch the first cherry blossoms in Île-de-France, which are forecast to bloom early this year.

Starting Thursday, March 5: Uncertainty Sets In

Thursday, March 5th could still offer a beautiful sunny day with highs around 18°C in Paris. However, by Friday, March 6th, clouds will return, bringing light showers and temperatures dropping back to around 13 to 14°C. The weekend of March 7th and 8th remains highly uncertain: weather models show less than 40% confidence according to tameteo.com, with a forecast of mostly cloudy to overcast skies and possible showers on Sunday the 8th. It’s best not to plan too far ahead for that weekend and to keep a close eye on updated forecasts as the days draw closer.
