Essonne: where is the department's best traditional 2025 baguette?

In the run-up to the latest edition of the Fête du Pain in Paris, the number of departmental competitions for the best traditional baguette is on the rise. After Yvelines, Val-d'Oise and Seine-et-Marne, it'sEssonne 's turn to unveil the results of its 2025 competition.

For this 10th edition of the gourmet competition, the jury evaluated baguettes from the bakeries of over 60 bakers, employees and apprentices in the Essonne region. To decide between them, the jury took into account a number of criteria, including the baguette's appearance, baking, taste, crust, crumb and smell.

At an awards ceremony held on April 3, 2025 at the CMA in Évry-Courcouronnes, the Essonne Chamber of Trades and Crafts revealed the names of the winning bakers, classified into three main categories: apprentices, employees and employers (company directors).

In the latter category, first prize for the best traditional baguette in Essonne 2025 went to Jérôme Debille of Les Traditions de Bièvres bakery/pastry shop in Bièvres (2 place Edouard Chennevière, 91570 Bièvres). He is just ahead of Mickaël Bedouet from boulangerie Bedouet in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (4 rue Pierre Brossolette, 91700 Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois), then Anthony Beuchet from boulangerie-pâtisserie Le Fournil d'Autrefois inÉtampes (85 rue République 91150 Étampes).

In the salaried category, Dylan Afonso of boulangerie-pâtisserie La Gourmandise in Wissous (1 rue Fernand Léger, 91320 Wissous) takes first place.

Last but not least, Gabriel Pivost of the same Wissous-based bakery-pâtisserie took first place in the apprentice category.
