As the bread festival returns to Paris from May 1 to 11, 2025, the number of departmental competitions dedicated to this French specialty is increasing this spring. The Seine-et-Marne region kicked off the festivities in early February with a contest for the department's best baguette, held in Bailly-Romainvilliers. So, where can you find the best 2025 traditional baguette in Seine-et-Marne?
As revealed by the Maison de la boulangerie de Seine-et-Marne, first place went to boulangerie Lebon, located in Gretz-Armainvilliers, not far from Ozoir-la-Ferrière. The establishment won in the"tradition" category, succeeding last year's winner, the boulangerie Aux Deux Epis in Saint-Jean-les-Deux-Jumeaux.
Still in the"tradition" category, the Bernadette bakery in Meaux came second, followed by the De Sousa bakery in Pontault-Combault.
To decide between them, the jury used a number of criteria, including taste, appearance, smell, baking and crumb quality.
Another category, that of"regular bread" (white baguette), and another winner with the bakery Aux Douceurs de la Chapelle in La Chapelle-la-Reine, which won all the votes. It was closely followed by the Lebon bakery in Gretz-Armainvilliers and La Paulinette Calmetienne in Chaumes-en-Brie.
Finally, on the apprentice side, Kirian Rudeaux from the boulangerie du Parc in Chelles took first place in the competition for the best traditional baguette 2025 in Seine-et-Marne.
