La Fête de la Nature returns to Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne on May 23–24, 2026. Activities, workshops, a plant swap, a nature-themed concert and a nature village await you for a free weekend in the heart of Seine-et-Marne.

For the sixth time, Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne is taking part in the Fête de la Nature. On 23 and 24 May 2026, this commune in Seine-et-Marne (77), nestled between the meanders of the Loing and the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, offers a completely free weekend of discovery. A nature village, plant swap, creative workshops, activities for children and even an unusual plant concert are on the program. A great way to spend time with family, friends, or solo, far from the Parisian bustle.

The Fête de la Nature is a national event held every May, aimed at reconnecting the general public with biodiversity. In Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne, the town has embraced its spirit for several years, making it a fixture rooted in the local natural heritage, with the Biosphere of Fontainebleau and the Gâtinais as a backdrop. Local associations, naturalists, artisans and shopkeepers come together, and the atmosphere blends a festive village market with a day dedicated to environmental awareness.

What's happening at the Champ de Mars?

This is the centerpiece of the program. The Village nature will fill the Champ de Mars for two days, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. You’ll find producers, artisans and associations with a wide array of stalls: cheeses and charcuterie from Corrèze, Sicilian specialties, beekeeping products, artisanal soaps, raffia crafts, macramé, indulgent candles, books, home decor, and furniture patina… The list is generous, and on-site dining is provided by Les Saveurs du Loing.

On the activities side, on Saturday, May 23, Jessica Vial offers a "Clouds and Weather" workshop from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring an illustrated story of the water cycle, a cloud made in a jar, and sky-reading (for ages 8 and up). Fabien runs a seed bomb workshop to give biodiversity a boost in gardens, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the City booth. Claudio the clown roams about, performing balloon sculptures for children from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and a stamp exhibition on mushrooms is visible all day long.

Sunday, May 24, the same vibe, featuring the balloon artist, a workshop to create a Nature Day bookmark with Rockzane, and the continuation of the philatelic exhibition.

Plant swap and workshops at Jardin des Noues

The Jardin pédagogique des Noues, at 1 rue du Viaduc in Veneux-les-Sablons, opens to the public for two days with sessions from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. Expect educational trails, nature-themed games and quizzes, and of course the plant swap: bring potted plants prepared one to two weeks in advance, label them, and swap on site. Free entry, with workshops free but limited to those who register (spaces limited).

Saturday workshops are particularly varied:

  • 10:30-11:30 AM: Intro to Cyanotype — a photographic process that creates blue-toned plant prints — for ages 10 and up, all materials provided. To register: https://urls.fr/-yYvBW

  • 2:00-4:00 PM: Participatory pruning of the green vine to boost fruiting (bring pruning shears, gloves, and suitable clothing). To register: lefildenossaisons@gmail.com

  • 4:00-5:00 PM: Introduction to basket weaving and making a bird feeder — for ages 10 and up, all materials provided. To register: https://urls.fr/FekS_7

Sunday morning (10:15–11:30), join a parent‑child workshop “Art for Babies” (0–3 years) featuring natural messy play and sensory exploration. Registration: https://urls.fr/DTXvGR

The Trolls' Garden, Sunday’s Surprise

New addition to the program this year: the Jardin des Trolls opens its doors on Sunday, May 24, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for free nature activities. It’s there that two rather unusual moments will take place: a hive discovery with Cédric l'apiculteur and, right next to it, a concert végétal by Frédéric, a botanist-musician, whose sensors translate the electrical activity of plants into sounds. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the two activities run in parallel. A great idea to share with the curious.

Champ de Mars Plant Swap: How to Sign Up?

Alongside the swap at Jardin des Noues, the City of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne invites you to a Plant and Flower Swap at Champ de Mars over the two days. Stall spaces are free and provided by the municipality, but participants must bring their own equipment (just like at a flea market). The event is open to local residents and associations, with the general public welcome while spaces last. Registrations close on May 20: download the PDF form and submit it from the official town hall site.

It's a wonderful chance to give new life to your cuttings, grow your garden for free, and connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts. You don't have to be an expert: a few well-prepared plants are all you need.

Our take: This weekend is for everyone, from families with kids to nature lovers, gardening enthusiasts, and those hunt for quirky discoveries. The vegetal concert and the cyanotype workshops alone are worth the trip. And since Moret-sur-Loing is reachable by train from Paris (R line, about 1 hour from Gare de Lyon), you can easily combine the Nature Festival with a stroll through the medieval cité or a pause at the guinguette on the banks of the Loing. Entry is completely free at all sites. For the paid workshops, places are limited: best not to wait.
