Just like the Music Festival, nature is also celebrated every spring with the Festival of Nature. This event has become a must-attend for wildlife and plant enthusiasts. This year marks a special milestone: the 20th edition of the festival, taking place across France from May 20 to 25, 2026. Expect a packed program of activities in Paris and throughout the Île-de-France.
Every spring, local authorities, naturalist associations, nature professionals, and passionate volunteers come together to offer families and groups of friends hundreds of free activities accessible to everyone. In total, more than 10,000 events are organized across France, all aimed at reconnecting with the natural world.
This 20th edition is brimming with ambition. The Ministry of Sports has joined the effort by inviting natural sports stakeholders to offer guided activities designed as moments of discovery and observation. The lineup includes guided hikes, orienteering courses with observation stops, beginner sessions in naturalist diving, caving, and even tree climbing. The goal is inspiring: to use sports as a bridge to nature, fostering better understanding and preservation. These initiatives are supported by the national platform sportsdenature.gouv.fr, managed by the National Resource Center for Ecological Transition and Natural Sports.
For this anniversary edition, a new highlight: WWF France has joined the event's steering committee. As a global conservation organization operating in over 100 countries, WWF shares a core belief that aligns perfectly with the spirit of the celebration: you can only really protect what you know, and you can only truly know what you have encountered. By becoming part of the Fête de la Nature, WWF strengthens a collective momentum built over 20 years of citizen engagement. The forests, rivers, wetlands, and coastlines that WWF works tirelessly to conserve are exactly the kinds of environments that the Fête de la Nature encourages us to (re)discover—right here, close to home.
