The Fête des Plantes 2025 returns to the Château de La Roche-Guyon in the Val d'Oise on May 3 and 4, for a new edition focusing on water and plant processing. This year's event highlights sensible solutions for watering gardens in the face of climate change, while inviting visitors to discover a world of juices, infusions and liqueurs made from fruit and plants.
The Château de La Roche-Guyon, a 12th-century jewel in the crown of one of France's most beautiful villages, provides an exceptional setting for the Plantes Plaisirs Passions event. Organized by the Établissement Public de Coopération Culturelle du Château and curator Daphné Charles-Le Franc, this 31st edition brings together some eighty exhibitors. Among them are nurserymen-producers, associations, artists, craftsmen, as well as producers of wines, honeys and other gourmet specialties.
This year's theme, "Le jardin (se) boit", invites us to reflect on the use of water in the garden, and to discover the many facets of the transformation of fruit, flowers and roots. Conferences and workshops will offer practical solutions for optimizing irrigation, whether through drainage, mulching or natural shading. The event will also be an opportunity to taste and explore artisanal beverages, from simple fruit juices to the most refined elixirs.
Since its creation in 1994, the Fête des Plantes at the Château de La Roche-Guyon has showcased the expertise of nurserymen and growers, the guardians of France's botanical heritage. The public will be able to admire a wide variety of plants: perennials, annuals, roses, ornamental trees, fruit trees, grasses, heirloom vegetables, ferns and aromatic plants. A plant exchange will enable visitors to swap seeds and farmers' seeds, thus promoting the conservation of old species.
Guided tours of the Potager-fruitier, whose origins date back to 1697, will be offered throughout the weekend. Covering 4 hectares, it is the largest kitchen garden in Île-de-France after the King's garden at Versailles. Labelled a Remarkable Garden since 2011, it has been certified organic since 2013. What's more, visitors will have the rare opportunity to discover the English Garden, accessible only on guided tours.
Fête des Plantes 2025 will be held on Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4, from 10am to 7pm (ticket office closes at 6pm). Admission is set at 8 euros, with free access for under-18s. This price includes entertainment, guided tours and admission to the château. A not-to-be-missed event for lovers of nature and eco-responsible gardening!
