The town of Sceaux is celebrating Hanami, not just in the Sceaux Park but throughout the town with a series of lively events. From April 4 to 19, 2026, a packed program awaits visitors, including a market, workshops, concerts, martial arts demonstrations, and traditional Japanese performances. We’ve got all the details.

Sceaux, located in the Hauts-de-Seine (92), is transforming into a mini-Japan to celebrate Hanami, the traditional cherry blossom festival. From April 4 to 19, 2026, the pedestrianized town center and the Sceaux departmental estate will host a vibrant lineup of events: a Japanese market, cooking and origami workshops, taiko drum concerts, martial arts demonstrations, rakugo storytelling, and much more. The highlight remains the blossoming of the century-old cherry trees in the park, with access this year by free reservation to help protect the trees.

What is Sceaux’s Hanami?

A must-see on the Parisian region's calendar, Sceaux’s Hanami draws thousands of visitors each year eager to admire the park’s century-old cherry trees. This ancient Japanese tradition of cherry blossom admiration finds a stunning setting here: the grounds, designed by Le Nôtre in the 17th century, offer one of the most spectacular blooms in Île-de-France. For the 2026 edition, the city extends the celebration beyond the park into the town center, hosting two weeks of festivities that blend popular culture with timeless traditions.

What's happening in the city center on April 11 and 12?

The weekend of April 11 and 12, 2026 will be the highlight of the festivities downtown. In the pedestrian area of Sceaux, a Japanese market brings together around thirty artists, artisans, and creators inspired by Japan. Visitors can browse a variety of jewelry, pottery, clothing, home décor, everyday objects, and many other handmade creations from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Saturday, April 11th, Brühl Square will host Japanese percussion concerts at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., along with craft workshops where visitors can create fabric objects, including cherry blossoms, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The evening will feature a lively J-pop and city pop concert at 6 p.m. On Sunday, April 12th, the focus shifts to flavors with Japanese cooking workshops offered hourly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The afternoon will showcase martial arts demonstrations starting at 3 p.m. with the Sceaux - Paris South Aïkido Club, followed by a karate demo at 4 p.m., culminating in a soulful musical finale with a concert of traditional Okinawan and Amami songs at 5 p.m.

How to Visit the Cherry Trees at Sceaux Park in 2026?

This year's highlight is a new measure: to protect the century-old cherry trees, which have become vulnerable due to the increasing number of visitors in recent years, access to the lawns of the pink cherry blossom grove is now only available through free reservation via the Domaine de Sceaux website. Reservations are subject to availability. A specially installed belvedere within the grove offers visitors a fresh perspective on the blooming spectacle. The pathways and the rest of the park remain freely accessible without the need for reservation.

Reservations must be made directly through Domaine de Sceaux, which also features the full program. Note: the initial booking slots are already fully booked, but new slots will gradually become available throughout the period from April 4 to April 19, with a maximum of 3,500 visitors per day.
