Lockdown in Paris and Ile-de-France: what is allowed to do

As some French areas are placed in weekend lockdown, others are placed in 24/7 lockdowns, and inhabitants involved wonder what derogatory trips are allowed. What can you do or not during lockdown? Here are valid motives.

Faced with increasing coronavirus indicators in some areas in France, the strategy is now to implement strengthened measures on a local basis in order to prevent a new nationwide lockdown. As a new “lockdown” has been once again implemented in France since April 3, and at least until early May, a derogatory trip certificate is once again compulsory to go to work, to move around excluding during curfew and for trips over a 10-km radius. You can go out during this lockdown for trips:

  • Related to work or to go to school or purchase supplies related to work

  • Related to first-necessity good purchase

  • For medical matter

  • For pressing family matter

  • Related to individual workout and walking pets, excluding time limits and within a 10-km perimeter around your home. Past curfew, you can walk your pet shorty within 1km around your home

  • To go to a public service or law professional for a process that cannot be completed remotely

  • To go to or come from a place of worship

  • Related to gatherings, meetings, or activities in the public place if not forbidden

What is banned:

Yet, several things are banned:

  • Going out without a certificate or without your mask

  • Selling alcohol (as decreed by the Prefect in Alpes-Maritimes and Dunkirk)

  • Traveling from one region to the other during lockdown in areas involved

  • Gatherings outside (barbecue in parks and gardens, gatherings in front of a restaurant or a bar for click & collect, and so on)

  • Private gatherings indoors are also to be avoided (a “common sense” matter, PM said)
