Every summer, Paris Police Prefecture instates a “Plan Tourisme” plan in order to keep millions of tourists safe in the city. In these areas, tourists and foreign visitors are targeted by pickpockets, leading to growing statistics. Yet, offenses are below the toll reported before the Covid-19 epidemic. Although tourists are finally back in the city, Japanese, Chinese and American people are still lacking in Paris. patrols sent to Montmartre make sure nothing bad happens to visitors, but you are recommended to remain prudent when strolling and have as little personal items as possible on you.
Furthermore, the BAC (French Anti-Crime Squad) can also intervene wearing plain clothes to fight against pickpocketing phones or wallets, as well as against scammers cracking the whip everywhere. The Police Prefecture also invites you not to sign petitions as scammers often ask for money.
