And the iconic Palace of Versailles, in Yvelines, has been selected to house the equestrian events of the Olympics. And especially, the horse-riding challenges will take place in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, promising to make the general public enjoy a fantastic athletic and visual show.
“Our parti pris was to only set up temporary facilities and enable the four billion viewers following the Games to enjoy tour heritage and culture”, Île-de-France Olympic and Paralympic venue manager Anne Murac told France Télévisions.
The audience will enjoy a jump back in time. For the record, under the reign of Louis XIV, Europe’s biggest royal stable was in Versailles and housed over 2,000 horses!
