The Nuit des Musées is back this Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Paris and the Ile-de-France region. This Europe-wide cultural event invites us to rediscover our heritage in a different way, through nocturnal and often free visits to participating museums, monuments, castles and other cultural sites. These programs are generally enriched by workshops and unusual events.
It's also a great opportunity to explore the Paris region's heritage and (re)discover local nuggets. InEssonne, there's a great program in store for you. This time we're taking you to Athis-Mons, to reveal what's in store at the Maison de Banlieue et de l'Architecture for this Nuit des Musées 2024.
The Maison de Banlieue et de l 'Architecture is a "center for the interpretation of the urban environment, suburban heritage and architecture" opened in 1999, with the aim of changing the way people look at the suburbs of the Essonne region, and more specifically at towns of "modest art and simple history"! The Maison de Banlieue may not be a museum in the strict sense of the word, but it's a place rich in history to discover and learn aboutEssonne's architectural heritage.
On the occasion of European Museum Night, enjoy a guided tour of the 2024 exhibition "Une banlieue sportive. Social and political histories of sport and its architecture", produced by the Maison de banlieue et de l'architecture, in the presence of the exhibition curators. The event will be followed by a buffet.
Dare to take an evening stroll! On the occasion of the 20th European Museum Night, (re)discover the history of Athis-Mons along the waterways that cross the town.
