Nuit des musées 2024 at the Musée national de la Marine: free night-time tours

Pirates, freshwater sailors and marine enthusiasts, make a note of this date: on Saturday May 18, 2024, the Musée National de la Marine opens its doors free of charge for an exceptional nocturne. All evening long, the art and history museum welcomes the curious, on the occasion of the 20th edition of the Nuit des Musées.

French ports, representations of power, trade, the art of navigation, the navy: the Musée de la Marine recounts the history of the navy and the importance of the sea in France since the 17th century. You'll admire numerous ship models, paintings, sculptures, navigation technologies old and new, outfits and equipment, objets d'art...

All these treasures, and many more, can be discovered during the visits organized for the 20th edition of the Nuit des Musées. The aim of this Europe-wide event is to showcase the country's cultural and artistic heritage, and to open up museums to all kinds of visitors for an evening out of the ordinary.

• Self-guided tour of the collections with a focus on water sports

  The Musée National de la Marine in Paris is gearing up for the Olympic Games!
  The sea is a wonderful terrain for sportsmen and women: sailing or exploring it requires a real challenge, both physical and mental. Visitors will be able to focus on water sports as they wander through the collections.

  
  
  
• Flash tours of the collections
  Saturday, May 18, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:00 pm, 9:30 pm, 10:00 pm
  

  Free 30-minute "flash" guided tours of the collections will introduce visitors to the newly renovated museum. Accompanied by an interpreter, visitors will be given a few keys to understanding the new layout, before continuing on a self-guided tour.
