Following the cancelation of the Chinese New Year Parade at the Place de la République, we had a doubt about the traditionaln Chinese New Year Parade in Paris 13th arrondissement. Thursday January 30, Paris 13th arrondissement town hall and the organizing associations of the event have finally decided to cancel the parade. An announcement supporting the Chinese community as the coronavirus pandemic keeps on progressing in China and the rest of the world.

As Paris 13th arrondissement mayor Jérôme Coumet says, this decision was hard to make "but the heart wasn't here and this decision sounds wise".

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo calls all Parisians to show solidarity with the Chinese community as the health crisis affects the country.

We remind you that the Chinese New Year Parade in the 13th arrondissement was said to take place this Sunday February 2, 2020 from 2 p.m. between the Avenue de Choisy, the Porte de Choisy and the Avenue d'Ivry. Main event int he 13th arrondissement, it gathers about 200000 people every year. It's also the occasion for many of us to discover the Chinese culture, its traditons and folklore. Celebrations are the chance to learn more about the cultures that make the 13th arrondissement: Vietnamese, Cambodian, Tibetan, from Chinese provinces... and even some neighborhing countries: India, Iran, Mongolia...
