For the FIAC 2021, a majestic and blazing dragon takes over the Place Vendôme from October 21 to 24, 2021. American sculptor Alexander Calder unveils his latest creation: Flying Dragon.

Every year, the Place Vendôme welcomes a unique work for FIAC, this contemporary art week in Paris. After the strange stars by Elmgreen & Dragset and Yayoi Kusama's giant pumpkin in 2019, that has been removed before the deadline, now discover Alexander Calder's red dragon.

The American sculptor - major name in modern art - brings fascinating and very special creations to life. The artist followed a training in mechanical engineering. It enables him to deliver playful comprehension of modern scientific concepts enabling him to play with physics and redefine the world of sculpture.

To delight and amaze Parisians, Alexander Calder draws inspiration from the Asian mthology bestiary to give life to a blazing red dragon ready to fly away.

The American sculptor manages to mix abstract shapes and natural curves, immobility and illusion of movement to create a harmonious work, a stuate that seems to be about to move. Called Flying Dragon, this sculpture is to stand on the place Vendôme and is to be as massive as elegant, and gives a magical touch to this chic neighborhood in Paris.
