January 2018’s exhibitions at Paris Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie
All year long, Paris Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie is full of playful and instructive exhibitions to be visited with your family. Here’s what’s currently happening.
Do you know that for the cost of an admission ticket to the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, you can also discover Explora permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as the Planetarium, the Agronaute submarine and the Louis-Lumière cinema.

Here’s the list of the temporary Explora exhibitions:
- Science in tales
Talking about science through fairytales, here’s what the Cité des Sciences offers with its yearly exhibition “Il était une fois” [Once upon a time]. Running from October 3, 2017 to November 18, 2018, this exhibition takes children from 7 to 11 years old to discover physical, chemical, mathematical concepts by observing them live in their favorite fairytales, from Pinocchio to Jack and the Beanstalk.
- Valerian and Laureline
Valerian and Laureline in mission for the Cité, the new interactive exhibition takes you to the 28th century to be discovered through the comic boards as well as the works of 3 scientists, the abundant universe of our two space and time travelers to discover from June 13, 2017 to January 14, 2018.
- Special effects
From October 17, 2017 to August 19, 2018, the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie hosts a great exhibition about special effects. A very exciting invitation to discover the magic behind the most impressive special effects in film history.
- Terra Data, our lives in the digital age
From April 4, 2017 to January 7, 2018, Paris Cité des Sciences runs an exhibition focusing on digital. Entitled “Terra Data”, this exhibition questions how data are used in our societies and how algorithms are used in our daily lives. To be discovered with your family and children from 12 years old!
From December 5, 2017 to August 26, 2018, Paris Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie offers a new exhibition called “Cold”. What’s cold? What are the effects on living bodies? How can we create it? And many other questions will have their answers.
From December 5, 2017 to January 6, 2019, potatoes are given pride of place at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie. For over a year, head to the greenhouse of the Cité to know everything about this tuber that is now the world’s first non-cereal goods.
- Transport and mankind
Environmental issues are more and more frequent, falling under governmental decisions such as the Grenelle Environment Project taken on in 2007. So, more than simple recommendations, our whole society called into question: can we keep on living with the same behavior? What will we leave to our children?
From September 16, 2014, Paris Cité des Sciences inaugurates a new permanent exhibition devoted to brain and neurosciences. In a surrealistic atmosphere, we test our brain capacities, we observe our brains from a physiological point of view and we know more about its potential.
- Earthwatch: the satellite revolution
From June 16, 2009, Earthwatch: the satellite revolution becomes Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie permanent exhibition. Come and immerse yourself in the heart of space application and discover space and Earth as you’ve never seen them before!
