For the very first time in the Paris region, the Sea Life aquarium in Val d'Europe invites the public to discover the Ile aux Manchots (Penguin Island) starting July 1, 2017. Come and discover the twenty or so Royal Penguins and Papuan Penguins that have taken up residence at the aquarium as well as the exhibition dedicated to them, during a true sensory experience.

After the Jellyfish, Octopuses, Starfish, theSea Life Aquarium in Val d'Europe, just next to Disneyland Paris, welcomes, as of July 1, 2017, a new population of Antarctic penguins consisting of 14 penguins and completed this Thursday, September 14, 2017, by the arrival of 6 royal penguins.

Do you know the difference between penguins and penguins? Unlike their flying cousins from the North Pole, penguins are only found at the South Pole and are unable to fly on the other hand, they are extremely agile underwater.

Sea Life Paris offers you an immersion in the world of penguins with the discovery of 2 species:

  • The Royal Penguin: at 90 cm, it is the largest of its family after the emperor penguin. And because king penguins like to differentiate themselves from the others, they incubate a single egg not on a nest but on their legs and protect it with their plumage.
  • The Papuan Penguin: one of the most colorful penguins with its bright orange beak and pink legs. With a size of 70 cm, it is the third largest penguin that exists. It is, moreover, the fastest underwater, with peak speeds of up to 35 km/h.

This 350m2 exhibition, entirely dedicated to penguins, is a real sensory journey where we discover little by little, using our 5 senses, the environment of these strange birds on the ice floe and underwater, their daily life, their behaviors, the southern climate...

The SEA LIFE Paris manatee reproduces, as faithfully as possible, the conditions of natural life. See you on the southern continent or white continent! All climatic conditions and atmospheres are created to immerse the public in the natural habitat of penguins. A unique experience in Paris!

"We wanted to launch an attractive and interactive animation to discover the life of penguins in a playful way and to give our visitors a real sensory experience. Today, the public demands interaction and proximity with the animals, and is on the lookout for the slightest information and anecdote about the species. With "The Island of the Penguins" we hope to be able to satisfy both young and old and make their visit to Sea Life Paris a real discovery!", says Laurent Agneessens, General Manager at Sea Life Paris.
