Fête de la Science 2024: workshops and exhibitions in Essonne media libraries

The Fête de la Science promises a rich 2024 edition. From October 4 to 14, 2024, a wide range of research-related events will be held throughout mainland France. In Essonne, media libraries will be showcasing science with workshops and original exhibitions.

The Fête de la Science celebrates its 33rd anniversary this year. It's the event that celebrates the work of scientists and raises public awareness of a wide range of subjects.

Between workshops, exhibitions, shows and festivals, science is in the spotlight, and it's also a great way of inspiring vocations. To make science accessible to as many people as possible, the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation proposes a theme each year. For this 2024 edition, the theme is"Oceans of Knowledge", on global warming.

In theEssonne department, there's a rich program of science-related events. For the event, the vast majority of media libraries are offering exhibitions, workshops and shows, for young and old alike.

A fun, educational workshop to discover bees and how they work, with the help of a passionate local beekeeper.

Staged reading of the novel "Combien de pas jusqu'à lune" followed by a discussion with Carole Trébor

This staged reading, interspersed with newsreel projections, retraces moments from Katherine Johnson's exceptional life from 1918 to 1969, based on excerpts from the novel. This literary journey takes us from the mountains of West Virginia to Langley Air Force Base. Together with the two actors, you'll follow the steps taken by Katherine Johnson from her childhood to the day she calculated the trajectories for the first exploration of the Moon. It will be followed by a discussion with Carole Trébor.
